Private Lessons

Who are private lessons geared towards?
Private lessons are reserved for mature dancers 6 years of age and older who want to work one-on-one with Prime Technique Dance Academy staff to improve technique in their choice of dance genre (ballet, tap, jazz or lyrical).

Private lessons are great for dancers with short term goals (preparing for auditions for a dance team, improving dance skills for an upcoming school musical, improving flexibility for gymnastics, etc) or dancers who would like continuous private lessons to grow long term as a dancer.

Private lessons are also a wonderful option for dancers looking to minimize contact with others due to current social distancing! Dancers who take private lessons for this reason are always welcome to join our group classes later should they choose to and should space permit it.

When are private lessons available?
Private lessons are offered as 30 minute sessions (one dance genre — for dancers 6 and older) or 60 minute sessions (one or two dance genres — for dancers 8 and older). Private lessons offer flexibility to dancers with busy schedules, but as a general rule, to encourage progression as a dancer we recommend setting a goal of attending at least 2-3 private lessons per month as prolonged time in between lessons can hinder growth.

Private lessons are offered throughout the year, but space is limited, so contact us ASAP for available days and time!

How much are private lessons?
You’ll be happy to hear that the more lessons to sign up for, the more you save!

$25 per one 30 minute private lesson
$45 per 1 total hour of private lessons
$80 per 2 total hours of private lessons
$105 per 3 total hours of private lessons
$120 per 4 total hours of private lessons
Add only $25 per each additional hour of private lessons after 4 hours (i.e. $145 per 5 hours, $170 per 6 hours, etc.)

Please note that discounts only apply when paying in full for the total number of hours. For example, if you purchase an initial “1 total hour package” for $45 and later decide to purchase a “3 total hour package” you will still have to pay $105 for the “3 total hour package” (total of $150, versus $120 if you had purchased all four hours together). However, once you reach 4 hours of lessons, each additional hour will only be $25. Discounts reset each June.

What are added perks of taking private lessons?
In addition to one-on-one, individualized attention, dancers who register for private lessons by November 15th and commit to a minimum of 10 hours of private lessons ($270) will have the choice to perform one solo in our annual recital. Dancers who register for private lessons by November 1st and commit to a minimum of 15 hours of private lessons ($395) will have the choice to perform two solos in our annual recital. Dancers may choose their genre of dance to perform, but Prime Technique Dance Academy staff members will make music and costume selections to ensure content is age and developmentally appropriate.

If my dancer chooses to do a solo, what else do I need to know?
A non refundable deposit of 50% will be due at the time of registration to guarantee your dancers spot in our recital, and the other 50% will be due after 4 hours of private lessons have been completed (one genre/solo) or after 7 hours of private lessons have been completed (two genres/solos). A non refundable performance fee of $70 for one costume/solo or $110 for two costumes/solos will be deducted on December 1st in addition to any performance fees for regular classes.

It is highly recommended that dancers who want to do solos choose a regular day/time that they can commit to each week to ensure the hour minimums are met as dancers who do not meet these minimums by May will not be permitted to perform in the recital.

Can my dancer still do private lessons if they don’t want to perform a solo in the recital?
Yes! Dancers may still take private lessons even if they do not want to perform a solo in our annual recital. In this case parents may “pay as they go,” but all tuition for private lessons must be paid PRIOR to each lesson.
