Class Placement Guidelines
If your child is new to Prime Technique Dance Academy, please use the following guidelines to select classes:

Age | Available Class(es)
2.75 to 3.5 years | Pre Ballet
3.5 to 4 years | Pre Ballet or Pre Ballet/Tap
5 years | Pre Ballet, Pre Ballet/Tap or Kinder level
6 to 7 years | Kinder or Beginner level
8 years | Beginner or Intermediate level
9 to 10 years | Intermediate or Advanced level
11 to 12 years | Advanced or Junior Elite level
13 years | Junior Elite, Elite or Senior level
14 + years | Elite or Senior level

ALL DANCERS MUST BE TOILET TRAINED, COMFORTABLE SEPARATING FROM PARENTS/GUARDIAN AND ABLE TO FOLLOW TWO STEP DIRECTIONS. 

 Toddlers/Preschoolers
Students will develop large motor skills in Pre Ballet and dance technique in Pre Ballet/Tap. Warm-ups, stretches and choreography taught through engaging songs, creative movement activities, and improvisation will develop confidence, social skills and studio etiquette. All students must be toilet trained, able to follow 2-step directions and comfortable separating from parents/guardians. Pre Ballet students must be 2 years of age on or before January 1st.
School Age Classes
Students will develop poise and grace through ballet warm-ups, introduction of barre work and choreography in ballet; explore concepts such as rhythm, beat and pattern through combinations and across the floor in tap; and improve stamina, flexibility and strength while working on leaps, turns and tricks in jazz.  
Ballet/Lyrical
Students will continue to learn proper ballet terminology and technique through warm-ups, barre, across the floor work, choreography and improvisation while beginning to utilize dance as an expressive art form. Students will develop confidence, coordination, balance, flexibility, stamina and muscle strength.
Tap
Students will get their hearts pumping in this energetic class! Students will explore concepts such as rhythm, beat and pattern through percussive footwork that exercises the thighs, calves, ankles and arches and balls of the feet.
Jazz
Students will learn various leaps, turns and tricks while improving their stamina, flexibility and strength. Warm-ups, across the floor and choreography will be combined with upbeat, current age-appropriate music as students explore qualities of performance such as body awareness, energy, spatial awareness, timing and focus.
