These classes are an introduction to dance and movement for toddlers and preschoolers. Students develop large motor skills through engaging songs, movement activities and the use of props. Emphasis is placed on creativity, improvisation, positive social skills and an understanding studio classroom etiquette.
Creative Movement Stay & Play is a monthly music and movement play group for children walking through their 4th birthday AND their parent/guardian. Children will participate in story time, learning stations (arts and crafts, fine motor activities, etc) and a structured Creative Movement class filled with stretching, singing, dancing, fun props, wiggling and moving. This is a great opportunity to bond with your little one while connecting with other families! This play group is open to both current PTDA families as well as the community, and no long term commitment is required. Attend one month or every single month!
Pre Ballet is a full year class held on a weekly basis intended for children who are toilet trained and ready to separate from parents.
Dance Combo includes ballet and tap. Dancers will develop poise, self confidence, coordination, musical awareness, social skills and an understanding of studio classroom etiquette. Proper ballet terminology and technique will be introduced in a fun and age appropriate manner through warm ups, barre, across the floor work, combinations and improvisation. During the tap portion of class concepts such as rhythm, beat and pattern will be explored through percussive footwork.
Jazzy Combo includes the upbeat styles of jazz and tap. Students will learn similar tap curriculum as Dance Combo II and III while learning jumps, leaps and turns in the jazz portion of class.
Students will continue to learn proper ballet terminology and technique through warm ups, barre, across the floor work and combinations while beginning to utilize dance choreography as an expressive art form. Students will develop poise, self confidence, self discipline, coordination, balance, flexibility, stamina and muscle strength.
Tap provides a great way for students of all ages to get their hearts pumping and burn off some energy in a fast paced and exciting class! Tap teaches concepts such as rhythm, beat and pattern through percussive footwork that exercises the thighs, calves, ankles, arches of the feet and balls of the feet.
Jazz encourages dancers to focus on performance quality while pairing leaps, turns and energetic choreography to energetic music.
Dance Technique Intensive
Help your dancer build a solid foundation in dance! Students will participate in cardiovascular workouts to improve stamina, stretching to increase flexibility, conditioning to promote muscle development and barre/choreography to focus on technique. This class is intended for hardworking dancers of all abilities. "Easy," "medium," and "hard" modifications will be given for exercises to meet individual needs of each dancer. This monthly class is open to both current PTDA students and the general public.
