NO RECITAL/PERFORMANCE FOR SPRING 2024 CLASSES
Toddler, Preschool and School Age Classes
Young students practice dance technique through creative movement activities and improvisation to develop confidence, social skills and studio etiquette.
As students get older, they will develop poise and grace through warm-ups, barre work and choreography in ballet; explore rhythm, beat and pattern through combinations and across the floor in tap; and improve stamina, flexibility and strength with leaps, turns and tricks in jazz.
Students learn ballet terminology and technique through warm-ups, barre, across the floor, choreography and improvisation while utilizing dance as an expressive art form. Students develop confidence, coordination, balance, flexibility, stamina and muscle strength.
This class is by INVITATION ONLY: dancers will be notified by Miss Breanna if this class is appropriate for them, and they must have two years of experience in Ballet/Lyrical at PTDA (not including Fall 2023), consistent attendance and be concurrently enrolled in Junior, Elite or Senior Ballet/Lyrical. Dancers should wear regular ballet shoes to class. Pointe shoes are granted on an individual basis determined by technique and growth. Wearing pointe shoes before a dancer is ready can have detrimental effects on physical development. Enrolling in Pre Pointe does not guarantee when/if a dancer will get pointe shoes -- some are ready within 6 to 18 months and more often in 2 to 3 + years. When a dancer is ready, Miss Breanna and the family will setup a time to be fitted at a local dancewear store for pointe shoes.
Students will love this energetic class and explore rhythm, beat and pattern through percussive footwork that exercises the thighs, calves, ankles and arches/balls of the feet.
Students learn leaps, turns and tricks while improving stamina, flexibility and strength. Warm-ups, across the floor and choreography will be combined with upbeat, age-appropriate music as students explore qualities of performance such as energy, spatial awareness and timing.
