Class Observation To promote a focused learning environment, family members are not permitted in class. Parents are welcome to wait in our adjacent lobby or drop off and pick up.
Tuition All fees are nonrefundable and nontransferable between classes or family members. Because tuition holds your dancers spot in their specific class, tuition is expected in full each month regardless of attendance and make ups/prorations are not given for missed classes.
Fall 2024/Spring 2024 runs from August 17th to March 8th* (no classes 8/31 to 9/2, 11/27 to 12/3 and 12/19 to 1/1). The first tuition payment is automatically deducted at the time of registration. Monthly payments will then be deducted using the card on file (Visa, MasterCard, Discover or Amex) on the 21st of each month from August to February.
If a tuition payment does not go through, parents will be notified via email, and it is their responsibility to submit payment by the 25th. Tuition paid after the 25th will be assessed a $10 late fee. If tuition and late fees are not paid by the 1st of the month, the student will forfeit their place in class. Students may re-join class only if space is still available by paying the late tuition, $10 late fee and a $10 re-enrollment fee.
Families may opt out of monthly automatic withdrawal by paying full tuition at the time of registration.
Discounts A $5 monthly discount for each class after the first will be given to students taking multiple classes. No sibling discounts at this time. Families paying for Fall 2024/Spring 2025 in full will receive a 5% discount (select "Entire Year" and then email us at [email protected] -- the full tuition will be manually adjusted, and payment automatically submitted within 48 hours).
Attendance/Cancellation To ensure progression as a dancer, proper attendance and timeliness is necessary. Students who miss five (5) or more lessons will forfeit their spot in class and their ability to participate in the recital with no refunds. Students who arrive after class has begun should enter quickly and quietly. If your child will be absent, please email us.
If class is cancelled, notification will be sent via email. Since tuition is paid to hold a dancers' spot in their specific class, refunds/make ups will not be issued for weather related closings or dancers who miss class due to illness, vacation, other obligations, etc.
Dress Code Girls must wear a solid black leotard with pink ballet tights. Black fitted dance shorts are optional. Only dancers in Advanced/Elite/Senior levels, Pre Pointe and Performance group may wear demi ballet skirts -- no skirts/tutus allowed in Pre, Kinder, Junior, Beginner and Intermediate levels as they tend to pose distractions to younger dancers. Long sleeve leotards are recommended for winter. Boys must wear a fitted solid white top and black fitted athletic bottoms. Long hair must be secured in a ponytail or bun. No jewelry, t shirts, hoodies, jeans or leggings permitted.
Proper dance attire allows instructors to make corrections on proper body alignment to prevent injury, because normal clothing does not allow instructors to confidently make these corrections, dancers not adhering to the dress code will be asked to observe class until they have proper attire. Due to the increased risk of injury when proper body alignment is not maintained while doing Pre Pointe work as well as lifts/tricks in Performance Team, the dress code will be strictly enforced in these classes -- no exceptions.
Pink leather ballet shoes (black for boys) for ballet. Black tap shoes for tap. Black slip-on jazz shoes for jazz (tan for Performance Team). Capezio and Bloch brands are highly recommended. No Target/“Freestyle” brand. A limited supply of new pink ballet shoes for $15 is available. For visuals, please visit Dress code.
Classroom/Studio Conduct Students must use the restroom prior to class. Students taking multiple styles should bring their dance shoes and a full water bottle (labeled with their name) in a dance bag. All other items (jackets, street shoes, food, drink, gum or toys) should be left in the lobby or with a parent. Prime Technique Dance Academy is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
Students, staff and family members must conduct themselves respectfully. Yelling, belittling, harassing, bullying, physical violence, etc. is grounds for immediate termination with zero refunds. Please respect our space: walk, maintain a quiet noise level, clean up after yourself, etc. We are a nut free facility.
Dancers should arrive no more than five minutes prior to class and be picked up promptly at the conclusion of class. Students must be accompanied by a parent while in the lobby. Dancers left unattended before or after their scheduled class time will be assessed a $15 supervision fee per student for each half hour or fraction of that they are left unsupervised. For your dancer's safety, Prime Technique Dance Academy utilizes a coded lock on our front door. Families are asked not to share this code and ensure the door closes fully behind them.
Email and Parent Portal is Prime Technique Dance Academy's primary form of communication. Every family is required to have a Parent Portal account and check it and email regularly.
Class Placement New students should follow the class placement recommendations below.
Prime Technique Dance Academy utilizes age as of September 1st, skill level, technique, maturity, prior dance experience and attendance history to determine if a higher-level is better suited. Dancers typically spend a minimum of two years in each level. All students must be toilet trained, comfortable separating from parents and able to follow two-step directions.
New Student Class Placement:
2.75 to 3.5 years -- Pre Level (must be 2 years by December 1st 2023)
3.5 to 4 years -- Pre or Kinder level (must be 3 years by March 1st 2024)
5 years -- Pre, Kinder or Junior level
6 years -- Kinder, Junior or Beginner* level (*must be 6 years by March 1st 2024)
7 years -- Junior or Beginner level
8 years -- Junior, Beginner or Intermediate level

10 years -- Beginner, Intermediate or Advanced level
11 to 12 years -- Intermediate or Advanced level

Classes have a three-student minimum and will be cancelled if only one student enrolls or shortened in length by 20% with the same tuition if two students enroll.
Recital Participation A nonrefundable performance fee of $89 per student ($50 for each additional class) is automatically deducted on September 21st. Fee includes costume, accessories, tights, recital t shirt, an additional mandatory dress rehearsal and participation in two recitals (three for Young Leaders, Performance Team and Senior/Senior Select). You must notify us by September 15th if you do not wish to participate. Recital participation for students who register after September 21st is dependent on costume availability, and a $10 shipping fee per dancer will apply. Email us to inquire about availability. Digital copies of the recital (no personal photography/video recording allowed), flowers to present to your dancer and additional recital shirts will be available for purchase.
We will hold three shows. The shows are designed so that every other level alternates which show they perform in (i.e. Pre Ballet in Show #1, Kinder in Show #2, Junior in Show #1, etc.) with the exception of Senior/Senior Select, Performance Team and Young Leaders which perform in all three shows. Families with multiple children who would like them to perform in the same show should take this into consideration. For example, if your children were recommended for Elite Level (Show #1) and Beginner Level (Show #2) you can either move your Elite student down to Advanced Level or your Beginner student down to Junior Level to ensure they are in the same show. By registering your children for class, you acknowledge and accept which show(s) your children will be in and understand that every individual attending a recital will need a separate ticket for each show they attend (children 3 years of age and younger are free when "lap-sitting"). Tickets are nonrefundable and not interchangeable between shows, and audience members must remain seated for the duration of the show keeping aisles and exits clear.

Each family will be able to purchase ~4 tickets to Show #3. The date/time of mandatory dress rehearsal and recital will be announced a few months in advance. Dress rehearsal is a closed practice: no parental viewing. Dancers who are unable to attend recital may have two guests view the last five minutes of their final class. Dancers are required to be present for the entirety of both dress rehearsal and recitals and will only be dismissed after the finale is over. Dancers must attend all shows that they are in. Each class is required to have one highly motivated and engaged Room Mom volunteer to help with supervision backstage. Families will be notified which classes need volunteers. Costumes and tickets will not be given to anyone who has an overdue balance seven days prior to recital day, and a balance seven days prior to recital will result in forfeiture of recital participation.
