Drop Off
Dancers should arrive to dress rehearsal/recitals at their designated times in costume, tights and dance shoes with hair and make-up done.
All dancers MUST USE THE RESTROOM immediately prior to being dropped off backstage. Dancers should not bring food, beverages (other than water), gum, toys, jackets, street shoes backstage -- leave all belongings with a parent/guardian. Prime Technique Dance Academy is not responsible for lost, stolen or damaged personal items. All costumes/dance shoes, whether worn or carried in, MUST BE LABELED with your dancer’s name. Only dancers, Staff and volunteers will be allowed backstage.
Pick Up
The week prior to recital, parent/guardians will be provided one wristband for their dancer(s) if they are in Pre, Kinder, Beginner or Intermediate classes. DO NOT LOSE THIS WRISTBAND – at the conclusion of dress rehearsal and recitals, we will announce which dressing rooms are ready for pick up and only the parent/guardian with the wristband will be allowed backstage to pick up their dancer. Locate your dancer as quickly as possible, assist them with cleaning the area they occupied, inform your dancers Room Mom that your dancer is leaving and exit the backstage area in the same direction that you entered. Miss Breanna individually confirms wristbands match each dancer: please be patient with this process!
If you lose your wristband, you will need to wait in the lobby until all the other students have been dismissed before your dancer is brought out to you. Please do not approach the backstage door unless you have a wristband!
Advanced, Elite and Senior dancers will be dismissed to the lobby AFTER the younger classes are dismissed.
Costume
Costumes and/or recital tights should be hung in a safe spot to avoid wrinkles until picture day, dress rehearsal and recital. Costumes must be in new condition without any alterations/additions (unless sizing alterations are necessary – costumes are not custom fitted, so have your dancer try her costume on to check size). Dancers with lost or damaged costumes will be unable to perform. Costumes are not given to dancers with outstanding balances.
Dancers must wear the tights provided with their costume. Other than a nude sports bra for older dancers and/or a nude camisole leotard for coverage (highly encouraged for students with costume changes/students sensitive to different textured fabrics)), additional undergarments/underwear are not necessary when wearing leotards and costumes – tights are a dancer’s “undergarments.”
The appropriate shoes MUST be worn in the specific colors listed below:
Absolutely no jewelry (necklaces, bracelets, rings, hats, bows) other than stud earrings should be worn.
Hair/Makeup
Pre, Kinder and Beginner classes should have their hair in a high "sock bun" or classic ballet bun. Intermediate, Advanced, Elite and Senior classes should have their hair a low bun with their hair parted on the right side. Short hair that does not reach a bun should be pulled back into a ponytail as much as possible. Bobby pins, hairspray and/or hair gel should be used to secure loose hair and bangs in a slick manner. Make up is at the discretion of each family although "stage make up" can prevent the face from being washed out from bright stage lighting: foundation, neutral colored eyeshadow, black eye liner, mascara, pink blush, red lipstick, etc.
Tickets/Recital Shirts/Digital Copies/Flowers
Recital tickets go on sale Saturday, March 21st at 10:00 am, and all ticket sales will be handled through our online ticketing service. Each family (sibling pairs on the same Parent Portal account) will receive one access code good for up to 13 tickets to the primary email listed on their Parent Portal account the week before tickets go on sale. Beginning March 28th at 10:00 am, remaining tickets will be available for purchase to families who need additional tickets on a first come, first serve basis. Codes will not be emailed to Parent Portal accounts with an outstanding balance.
Tickets are $12.75 (regular seating) or $14.00 (priority seating) each plus a convenience fee. Everyone attending the recital must purchase a separate ticket for each show they will be attending (children 2 years of age and under are free when lap-sitting). All tickets must be pre-purchased through Shovation, and all tickets are nonrefundable and nontransferable.
Every dancer will receive one recital shirt (please update your dancer's shirt size in Parent Portal by April 1st). Additional shirts, digital copies of the recital and flowers sales begin March 21st at: https://form.jotform.com/260700940260144. Cash or check payments must turned in by 11:30 am on 4/4 (payments not turned in by 11:30 am on 4/4 will be charged via the card on file -- 3.75% processing fee applies). Recital flowers will be available for pick up in the Greenfield High School PAC lobby at 2:30 pm on May 2nd. Pick up for the digital copies and/or recital shirts will be announced.
Room Mom Volunteers
We are looking for 1-2 highly motivated mothers per class/level to volunteer backstage! Room Moms arrive 10 minutes prior to dress rehearsal and BOTH recital drop off times, supervise all dancers in their assigned class for the entirety of dress rehearsal and BOTH recitals, sign dancers out at pick up times, assist with costume and shoe changes and escort dancers to and from the stage. Room moms will get to see their dancer perform.
You will be notified via email if your dancers' class still needs a Room Mom. If you are interested in being a Room Mom, AND your dancer’s class needs one, please reach out to Miss Breanna for a volunteer form to return by March 18th. Being a Room Mom is a great memory making opportunity, but we truly count on our volunteers to keep our dancers safe and help the recital run smoothly – if you are interested in helping, please be prepared for a fun-filled but very fast paced day!
Interested in helping, but not sure if you want to be a Room Mom or your child’s class already has a Room Mom? We may also need “Overflow Room Moms” to assist with another class in the same dressing room, line assistants, and flower sales & ushers (great roles for male family members!). Please email us if any of these job interest you!
Video/Photography
Dancers will have photos taken in their costumes at the studio by Leonhardt Photography (for your convenience, your dancers Picture Day will remain on the same day that they usually have dance, with a slightly modified time and dates/times were provided at the time of registration). Dancers may wear their hair how they like, but tights, costume and shoes must match recital day requirements. Leonhardt Photography will be at the studio at a later date to show picture proofs. Digital copies of photos include all printing rights and the ability to share with family and friends. While photos are being taken, only dancers and Prime Technique Dance Academy staff members will be allowed in the classroom.

The recital will be recorded by Greenfield High School Staff. Digital copies of the recital on a USB will be available for $5. This is a great way to share your dancer’s performance with family and friends and allows you to be “in the moment” during your child’s performance! For the safety of our dancers, photography and videography of the recital is NOT allowed under any circumstance. Audience members found taking photos or recording will be asked to leave.
All audience members remain in their reserved seat for the duration of the show. It is incredibly important that the aisles and exit remain clear. If you must leave, we ask that you do so in between routines.
As always if you have any questions or concerns regarding the recital, please let us know. We are here to help and want this performance opportunity to be a positive experience for everyone!
